ive actually never played a ds.. but as far as i can tell i actually think the touch screen was a bad idea..but nintendo always has to be different considering they cant keep up graphically lol
The touch screen is good for some games . What bothers me more is the 2 screens. Like watching a game cinema split on 2 screens is very aggravating. All the 2 screens are good for is games that have maps and RPG's where it saves you trouble from having to press a select button to access your magic,weapons & so forth.
I find the touch screen useless except for strategy or puzzle games. It would have been better if they just came out with more powerful Gameboy Advance but Nintendo has always been useless gadget happy starting with the ROB robot and Power Glove for the NES.

Most RPGS on the DS are actually pretty traditional with using touched based functions for menus and such. So I don't really think that's a problem.
The thing I kinda hated about Pokemon Diamond And pearl was actually the Lack of use of the touchscreen. It would have been way easier moving pokemon in the pc with the stylus.
