In reality, Linux has top security however, it sucks because you need to know what you're doing. Windows is for everyone but make sure that your copy isn't fake. Windows is user friendly but most Linux versions aren't. Calm down, It's only the beginning
I have been using windows all my life right now i have windows xp...vista bites in my opinion and mac is starting to climb up i guess. but linux and unix are still trailing they are not nearly as popular and there are not that many games compatible with them so ya thumbs up for windows
Linux is a free OS, but what really sucks is that most games are not compatible for Linux. Windows Vista is a pain in the ass. Calm down, It's only the beginning
yeah, linux isn't good for gamers, if you are all about gaming, stick to windows, if you are a programmer, try linux, if you are anything besides a hard core gamer, try linux, i highly suggest downloading (or ordering) a live cd from Ubuntu, the latest version is just awesome, also the live cd runs without even touching the files on your computer, so it is great to have in case of emergencies.
well personally how i understand it linux and unix are only less prone to hacking because its not as popular...i mean think about it which would be an ideal target to hack into...Windows or Mac 90% of ppl or Linux/Unix or other minor os 10%...everything has its flaws it just isnt worth it to exploit linux's or unix's....yet

you're wrong about that, that's what i used to think, until i became a linux user, of course everything has flaws, but windows let's anything run as administrator, linux does not, in windows you can double-click on something and you're fucked, linux has several types of executable, even .txt can be executable! but when you double-click, it asks if you want to run or see contents or what? and you are never administrator on linux, anything you want to run should run fine without having to be, anything that requires administrator rights asks for the password, also, Ubuntu uses package indexing, so all the packages are available from an indez, you can search there for what you need, there is no way you are gonna download a virus unless you download a lot of 3rd party software, and even then, you would have to give the virus permission to screw up your computer, not like in windows where you click and it can run in the background and screw up your computer without you knowing anything is happening. so even though that makes perfect sense, that is not the reason why.
Linux is multi-adaptable yes, also Linux has multiple layers of security. I wonder if you can write Firmwares with Linux. The main failure with Linux I have discovered with Ubuntu 7.04 is that the package index systems can malfunction. What is more of a pain in the ass is the fact with the malfunction of the package indexing system also causes your system to crash.
Controlled states in Linux are nice however it does not do you any good when your OS crashes and leaves you defenseless now does it?
Windows can be controlled but knowing how to do it, is the trickiest part of the operation.
Another trick is to have the best defense possible ready to combat viruses, worms, and malware.
10 years of computer knowledge prepares you in what to do, when to do it and how to do it.
I'll be damned if I can find someone on this site with 10+ years of computer expertise to contradict me.
If someone does have this....I'll commend you.
Computer geeks have more power than you think and if Linux is used correctly then things will run as expected. Windows too, is multi-adaptable in case you have failed to realize. So Linux and Windows are on the same page and are backwards compatible. This backwards compatibility depends on if you know what you're doing.
Just remember... Just know what you're doing.

1. Linux is only free from viral infections and spyware because so little people use it. Therefore because its limited population of users, hackers dont pay much interest to make infections since its better to effect the many than the few. Think about it. Also if your not really new to the coding world and such ... this inst something to hop on.
2. Mac
sorry to be rude but only 2 kinds of ppl use this. 1 people who have an interest in video and photo editing and such. 2 idiots. Mac has so much compatibility issues its not even funny. Try using various programs on the mac then come back to me. Sure you may get a few games to work ... blah blah but when you have a company to run and need essential programs at bay ... this is not going to be your choice.
3. Vista
Vista is an amazing OP. If you take away all the issues it has now. ( keep in mind all OP's go through this when they are first released) its an amazing OS. The only reason why vista seems so flawed is because its promising features are not being seen by the end user. Also since service pack 2 recently came out its hard for many people to just get up and change. which is why its so easy to see the cons and be blind to the pros.
leopard has a very good "eyes candies" but somehow i still prefer vista,, on vista,, i don't really bothered by those "malware" stuff,, workin' fine and looks well too,,
