do you practice (or practiced) any style of martial art/system ? which would you recommend and why (guns/knives and baseball bats will not be taken into consideration : ) ?
I did Judo once, i was in for a few months but my sensei only spoke Japanese. on e of the upper students knew a little Japanese so he helped us but then he left so no one could understand the sensei, everyone quit only 2 stayed in. I didn't learn much, but what i did learn i used to kick this kids ass who thought he was cool or something lol =D

I always wanted to check out some classic japan style but one thing disourages me... in such kind of martial arts there are plenty of strange/mystic movements that looks for me ineffective in real confrontation... I have tried Krav Maga and Combat Kalaki but quit both of them for Sambo... after couple opportunities to check effectivness of Sambo I decided to stay with it

meister6789: tae kwon do? : O ...but why? in my opinion kicks are not enough... there is no grappling elements in tae... also hand techniques are very poor in this style
Aerris: ok... Judo and Ninjitsu have roots in Japan but Tae Kwon Do comes from Korea : )
Most styles of martial arts weren't really designed to be effective killing machines. A lot of them are just to hone your body movements and gain a better control of your movements. The martial art gives you discipline to control yourself.

majorwallas123 - you're absolutely right... but that's why I think that they are incomplete - meditations/will profiling/asian discipline.everything of these is at least interesting but in my opinion this must lead to some real results... and by this I mean effectivity
