Hello, I just had a question about modding a ps2. Do you have to attached a mod chip to it or are there other ways to go about it? Maybe a no soldering method or something. Also if anyone knows where i can purchase a chip that would be nice to know also. Thank you.
I got someone to add a chip to mines... you cant watch dvds after(depending on the way you do it i guess) However I remember when ps2 was fresh there was an attachment you could put in blue area (old models) and just turning it on it will enable you to play burned games. Im not 100% sure on this since this was a long time ago, but i remember thats the way I seen it done. Note: I could be wrong about the attachment way, but I know for sure there's a chip
Thanks for Reply Rex_Ban, unfortunatly i have the slimeline ps2 so blue area idea probably wont work. Not playing DVDs after modding is no big deal i have a dvd player anyway. I heard something about a disc that you insert and it does something with the files on the PS2 that will enable it also but have been unable to find anything about it on the net. Kinda unsure about doing that in case it makes my PS2 not work right or something.
there's a software called USBextreme that can let you load isos on a usbhdd(no need to burn discs), heard it's meant to work on a slim ps2 Currently playing:
Nice thanks for the info Reverseblade. I will look USBextreme up right now. Hopefully i can find something about it. If so i will let you know what i find out. Thanks again.
Ok found the official website for the USBextreme and your right it will work with 50gb to 200gb HD's. Doesnt even hafta be the sony hd any IDE will work. Its actually called HDAdvance. Anyway here is link if you wanna check it out also http://www.hdadvance.com/ Thanks again Reverse
P.S. How is Ninja Gaiden Sigma, is it harder than Ninja Gaiden on XBOX?
you can install modchip into ps2 slim. the best modchip available now is the matrix infinity. im currently using super-7 chip and it sucks, only able to play ps2 and dvd backups but wont boot ps1 games.

the game's great if it hooks you up. been playing the missions now and they're tougher than the main story. the controls are simpler but the gameplay's a lot harder. definitely worth getting a ps3 for Currently playing:
