 So yeah, the version of Digimon World 3 that you get from this site comes in the form of a .mdf file which cannot be used. Is there any(free)way to convert this to one of the useable file types?

 Not sure what that is, but I found a version that does work, no real reason to go and find it.

 try using daemon it will convert .mdf to cd file just run the emulator in cd mode not iso.

 You don't have to use deamon tools for the mdf files just use the psxfin emulator for those files
