Got a big problem here-while playing ps1 games on my ps2 i cant save game(Y i use my old ps1 memory cards)I can read old saves i made on my ps1 but cant save at all! Strange, I don't have that problem. I've been playing my PS1 games on my PS2 without a problem. I don't know what to tell you.

well its actually been years since i last play a ps game on my ps2, the only thing i remmeber is that it worked perfectly so the only thing i imagine is, or you aren't doing something well (if you tried with both, a ps memorty and a ps2 memory, then there shouldn't be a mistake by you, so the only thing left is a problem on the ps2 reading the memory, but if it reads the memory of ps2, that shouldn't be a problem
the other thing, are you sure you are putting correctly the memory?, casue if im not mistaken, the memory of ps doesn't fit very well on the ps2, although it does work

Are you still having this same problem? Well, if you are, then I should tell you that I've had my ps2 for a good 5 (or was it 6) years now and I can save and read from a ps1 memory card with no problems at all. I've had my ps1 for even longer too, kind of beginning to get fossilized by now >.> but it still works for the ps1 iso's I manage to download and burn to CD. Its been ages since I ever played FFVIII, but I still got the saves from way back then on my memory card, and it still works when I put it in the ps2 and play for a few hours. One thing you mentioned though, about the mem card not being read on a ps2 without a disk in it, that is what you should expect actually. When deleting saves or formatting ps1 mem cards, I use my ps1...ps2 won't read a ps1 mem card unless you're actually playing a ps1 game.

@Aerris - Perhaps you got a bad batch of mem cards. It happens.
