I was just wondering what everyone's experiences are with the above as I'm considering purchasing the Datel SD Media Launcher to find some use out of my dust collecting GameCube.
I searched for Max Drive Pro, but those have apparently disappeared off the face of the earth and this was the only alternative I could come up with, unless you readers can come up with one.
Also, wondering what everyone is using for burning programs and blank Mini DVD-R, I've heard both failure and successes with IMGBurn, CDClone, Nero, Alcohol, DVD Decrypter.
Lastly, anyone have any tips on the laser tweaking in case it can't read the backups?
i use the SDML but i don't use burned disks on my cube, i stream them due to the fact that I DO have to tweak the laser. and yes the max drive pro is extinct nowadays but don't bother looking for it, SDML does the same thing.
In any case if burned disks don't work, go with streaming games, post the games you'll be playing since streaming doesn't work with all games Currently playing:
ReverseBlade & I have gone over this before with SD Media Launcher. You can try the stream method although I don't know if this is going to work with all games.
Here is something simplier but it will cost you more money. Just buy a "Full Size DVD GameCube Replacement Case" and install it. Then burn your games on a full sized DVD-R's ( just like PS2 & X-box) instead of those pain in the ass mini-DVD-R's.
Now you can use the "SD Media Launcher" method or you can have a "mod-chip " installed to play your games.
If you have a pro install your "Full Size DVD GameCube Replacement Case" you should have no probs with your laser or playing games.
Oh yah yes you'll also can play the mini-DVD ( UMD )games you already have on it as well.

games that don't work by streaming are the multi platformed(i.e also released on ps2, etc) any gamecube exclusive seems to work
that's all i can tell from testing the ones i have Currently playing:
ah i forgot there's also the very experimental program called "sd-boot" that let's you load isos from your SD Card, heard some games are now working with no problems, hence it's another alternative for SDML Currently playing:
sry to tell you but use the edit button next time, didn't want to but i'll have to warn you
as for compatibility has summet like a 1% chatter for many games but not all, by chatter i mean gameplay/video slowdowns, sound messup, etc. but nothing that prevents them from being playable, games that fall into this category are:Metroid Prime, Luigi's mansion,MGS-Twin Snakes, etc. fully playable games include Zelda(Both), ssbMelee, StarFox Assault. you might want to just experiment with the ones you have

One way or another I need SD Loader to load .dol files, whether its GCOS or that streaming program.
If I go with burning backups, I'll need to buy Mini DVD-R which may or may not work depending on my laser "pot".
If I go with streaming, I'll need to buy a network adapter, have my laptop connected to my GameCube when I play, and have video be choppy; but may be my only choice unless I want to open my GC and adjust the laser manually.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of the above.
