I would start with Slayers: The Movie first, then the OVAs and then the series.

Close enough to being the right order. The movie starts it all off. The OVAs, in the right order, will lead you into the series (since Naga only makes an appearance or two out of the whole entire series). I've watched the entire series (a friend of mine has all three sets) and own the movie and four of the OVAs out of six (I think there's only 6). I do know that Amazon has a ton of them posted!
