Don't you just hate random battles in RPG's? You know what I mean, right? Like, for example, in Final Fantasy, you're just walking (or running, if you're like me) in a field or dungeon, and suddenly, you're thrust into a battle! When (if) you win, or run away, either one, you take a few more steps, and you're in another battle! The process reapeats. Don't you think that's annoying? I play games. I like games. I live for games.
LoL, well yeah it can be pretty annoying at times, but hey I like the random battles more than the crappy FFXII battles.
It's like... wait... poke mob... wait... poke mob... miss... aww damn gotta wait another 10 secs. It was very boring to play, at least for me anyways. The time between attacks just made it felt long and drawn out.
And I also like the random battles more because, well, you never know what you're going to run into .
Need a Sig / Avatar? Tired of the one I made you? Send a PM! Just let me know what you want on it as well as your preferred color and I will see what I can do
They're annoying indeed, but the problem is: there are not many successful attempts of alternative battle encounters. When the player has total control over the encounters, the characters abilities tends to get overwhelmed by the enemies constant improvement as the player goes further in the game. The truth is that battles sometimes have to be imposed. I wonder about making a good rpg game in the future, and the battle system e something I think that deserves a lot of attention, since it's basically what controls the progress in the game (unless you make a more puzzle-like rpg, like the GBA Golden Sun series), so I thought of a system where it sometimes gives the choice of entering a random encounter or not based on fast mini-games, like " hit the button in the right timing to avoid encounter ". The idea is so obvious that I wouldn't be surprised if it's already implemented in some game I don't know, so anyone here has seen something alike?
It depends on the game. I can deal with them most of the time but some games have so many that it gets in the way of accomplishing the plot. I rarely attempt to avoid them though. Something to do with my obsession with maxing out my characters perhaps?
@aimi4s1 Some people actually Study!?!?!? as in like searching through books for information pertinent to upcoming tests, quizzes, or exams? an amazing concept! I should try that someday! lol jk If at first you dont succeed, try different ammo. 90% of teens today would die if Myspace was completely destroyed. If you are one of the 10% that would be laughing, copy and paste this to your signature.
have you tried playing Digimon World Dawn and Dusk for DS?
gawrsh, i stopped playing cuz every 15 steps i swear you encounter something lol
thats why i really loved Chrono Cross -- most "random" battles are up to your discretion, you can either run away from them or run directly into them This be me.
Yeah, I actually don't hate random battles all that much. I only don't like them when I'm trying to advance the plot. When I'm trying to level up or something, I love them LOL. I play games. I like games. I live for games.
