The idea with A.R.A.T. is a good one,ill easily make at least one of my friends install it on pc

Ok, well it's a little more complex then istalling it up, if you need the site for cybergate ask me, I'll give you the main page instead of some random download and building a server doesn't require much, just a download of something called a DUC to use that host for your CyberGate, it's done after that, you send the R.A.T to your computer from your friends and then you grab the files on his computer to ship back your way, make sure he kills his host after because if he doesn't you'll be his R.A.T unless you can kill the process off, which is easy too. Message me if you need help, and the above post had some ok forums, but the Hack Forums can help with pretty much everything you can't do with mere help programs and what not, although I'd make sure to virus scan everything for yourself first of course. But if you go with a R.A.T you can download it off the main site like I said, the reason I posted the hack forums was maybe if you want to register and ask them for help too because there's quite literate with the computer.

Have you tried starting the computer up in safe mode and then change the properties of that folder?

You should be able to go into Safe Mode unless you have a Virus or malicious bug.
If you can not go into Safe Mode (that's rebooting the computer while holding down the F8 key for all noob's with Windows XP) then I suspect your "My Documents" folder contains a Virus or malicious bug.
Scan your PC with Anti-Virus,Anti-Spyware and Anti-Malware.
Aerris it wouldn't hurt to scan your computer for malicious bugs that could be preventing you from going into Safe Mode and maybe causing you other problems.

Lol, I'd suspect with the malicious files there is today that most Anti-Virus programs don't tend to pick up on viruses to well, maybe a .bat virus, but that's not a virus people really spread around, plus I should know I've opened viruses on my computer on purpose being sent and created by me on my other computer to see if my firewall, anti-virus or sandboxie would pick it up, and it went through like nothing.
Either way, Aerris, if you go with a R.A.T I'll be able to help you when I can if you want my help, unless you can figure it out yourself of course, just make sure you ONLY download off of the main sites, there could be versions of the program binded with a R.A.T or bot or whatever. I just set up another R.A.T for someone last night, so it's pretty simple to do. Also if your other documents are in fact infected with some sort of virus, spyware or whatever else, the computer that gave your computer the R.A.T will pick up on other viruses that may have melted when you opened them, so they'd be invisible to see, and through the R.A.T you can kill them off, R.A.Ts are a useful thing, but they can be pretty deadly if some dude R.A.Tted you without you knowing. You haven't had no weird messages pop up, or websites randomly open on your computer, I'm assuming, so you might be pretty clean, but I suggest going through all of your documents with your R.A.T to see if you can pick up anything suspicious, or invisible.
