This trick goes back to the very early PAL Playstations. I had one of the first and it worked perfectly, but it burned out the drive and the laser very quickly. Later versions had protection to block this. Another way was to jam some blu-tack down the hole where the button was.
Im not sure exactly when to stitch the Disks. I have a GoldFinger mod chip that plugs into the back of the Ps1 so I can play burned games and that works just fine. But Im am only Borrowing it. Do you switch the disk before it starts spinning fast or right when it starts?
